Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with great excitement that we invite you to the 22nd EuGMS Congress, which will be held in the dynamic and culturally rich city of Lille, France, from September 16th to 18th, 2026. After the resounding success of our 2025 congress in Reykjavik, which saw over 2,000 participants, we look forward to another exceptional gathering where we will continue to advance the field of geriatric medicine, deepen our collaborations, and celebrate our shared commitment to improving the care of older adults.

The theme for the 2026 congress, “Optimizing Function: a Key to Healthy Ageing”, underscores the vital role of functional capacity in ensuring quality of life and independence as we age. In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, this focus is more important than ever. With an aging population across Europe and beyond, we must work together to identify and implement the most effective strategies for promoting physical, mental, and social well-being in older adults.

This year’s congress will again highlight the inclusive and interprofessional spirit of our society. Our diverse program will bring together clinicians, researchers, allied healthcare professionals, policy makers, educators, and trainees to exchange knowledge and experience. By fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, we aim to drive forward innovative solutions in geriatric care that are both sustainable and adaptable to various healthcare systems across Europe.

We also want to promote the integration of young and very young professionals engaged in geriatric medicine all over Europe, so that they can discover firsthand how dynamic the field of geriatric medicine is and that the EuGMS congress is the best place to meet!

Sustainability will continue to be a cornerstone of our efforts. Building on our ‘Going Green’ initiatives, we will prioritize digital technologies, including interactive congress apps, digital posters, and paperless communication. Additionally, our commitment to environmental responsibility will be reflected in all aspects of the event, from venue selection to catering, ensuring that we minimize our ecological footprint while promoting best practices for a greener future.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The scientific program will offer a rich blend of cutting-edge research and practical insights. We are particularly excited to present recent advancements in the field, including the results of several multicenter randomized trials focusing on key issues in geriatric care and using Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) as outcome measures. These studies represent the growing depth and sophistication of research in geriatrics and promise to shape the future of our practice.

WHY LILLE?
Lille is a perfect setting for our gathering, combining rich history with a forward-thinking approach to healthcare. The city offers a vibrant atmosphere, ideal for networking and learning. With its accessibility, charm, and world-class facilities, Lille will provide a welcoming environment for our scientific sessions and social events and the French local organizing committee will ensure to make it an unforgettable event!

We are thrilled to bring together leading experts from across Europe and around the world to discuss the latest innovations, share insights, and explore how we can work together to enhance the quality of life for older adults. Whether you are returning for another year or attending for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you to an enriching experience in Lille.

Together, let’s continue to push the boundaries of geriatric medicine, strengthen our community, and drive positive change for the future of ageing.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us from September 16-18th, 2025, in Lille!
