Message from ASNO President
Dear Friends
It is a great honour to serve as President of the Asian Society for Neuro-Oncology (ASNO). I am grateful for the trust placed in me and privileged to represent a vibrant community dedicated to improving the lives of patients with brain and central nervous system tumours across Asia and Oceania.
Our region bears a significant proportion of the global neuro-oncology burden, yet it is also one of immense opportunity. While our countries differ in healthcare systems, resources, cultures, and patient populations, we are united by a shared commitment to advancing research, education, innovation, and patient care. It is this spirit that has guided ASNO since its inception in 2002 and continues to shape our future.
ASNO has grown into a leading regional platform for scientific exchange and international collaboration, working closely with partner organisations including the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO). Through collaborative research, education, mentorship, and multidisciplinary partnerships, we aim to generate evidence that reflects the unique needs of our diverse populations while nurturing the next generation of neuro-oncology leaders.
It is therefore particularly fitting that the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Asian Society for Neuro-Oncology (ASNO) will be held jointly with the 18th Annual Meeting of the Indian Society of Neuro-Oncology (ISNO) in Jaipur, India, from 4–7 March 2027, under the theme "Unity in Diversity." This landmark joint meeting represents a unique opportunity to bring together regional and national expertise on a single platform, fostering stronger collaborations across disciplines, institutions, and countries. By uniting ASNO's international network with ISNO's vibrant and rapidly growing neuro-oncology community, we aspire to create an enriching scientific programme that reflects the diversity, innovation, and shared aspirations of our region.
India, home to one of the world's most diverse healthcare ecosystems, embodies the spirit of "Unity in Diversity." Jaipur, the iconic Pink City of Rajasthan, beautifully blends centuries of heritage with innovation and warm hospitality, offering an inspiring setting for scientific exchange and lasting friendships. Just as India's strength lies in its diversity, so too does the strength of ASNO. Together, our varied experiences, perspectives, and expertise will enable us to address the unique challenges of neuro-oncology across Asia and Oceania.
The scientific programme will showcase the latest advances spanning molecular diagnostics, precision oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, systemic therapies, paediatric neuro-oncology, survivorship, supportive care, and quality of life. More importantly, it will provide opportunities to build enduring collaborations, exchange regional experiences, and inspire innovations that improve patient outcomes throughout our region.
As we gather in Jaipur, let us celebrate not only the diversity of our nations but also the unity of our purpose to advance neuro-oncology through collaboration, excellence, and compassion.
On behalf of ASNO and ISNO, I warmly invite you to join us in Jaipur for this landmark joint meeting. Together, let us transform our diversity into collective strength and our shared vision into meaningful progress for every patient with a brain tumour, irrespective of geography or circumstance.
I look forward to welcoming you to Jaipur for what promises to be an outstanding scientific, educational, and cultural experience.
With warm regards,
Rakesh Jalali
