ESMO Sarcoma & Rare Cancers Congress 2024

After the great success of the 2023 edition, the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress will come back to Lugano, Switzerland, on 14-16 March 2024.

The congress will constitute a unique occasion for specialised physicians, oncologists, scientists, industry representatives, patient advocates and nurses, from all around the world, to connect, and share their knowledge, experience, and research for the advancement of treatment of sarcoma and rare cancers.

The scientific and educational programme will feature insights into the diagnosis, prognostication, management and ongoing research of patients with rare adult solid cancers, including sessions on multidisciplinary expert management, targeted therapies, precision medicine, methodological challenges, policy and guidelines, as well as sessions specifically designed for young investigators.

We look forward to welcoming you again to Lugano in 2024, to share with you the latest original scientific data in these rare sub-entities.

Outcome notifications

Outcome notifications are expected to be made available to first authors and submitters by end-January 2024.

Trial in Progress abstracts

Trial in Progress (TiP) abstracts in all phases of clinical research (phases I to III) may be submitted to the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2024.

It is expected that abstracts submitted as Trial in Progress are ongoing trials that have not reached any protocol-specified endpoints for analysis.

Presentation of accepted abstracts

The ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers 2024 Scientific Committee will select abstracts for presentation during the Congress based on the following possibilities:

• Proffered Paper – Oral presentations by authors presenting original data of superior quality, followed by expert discussion and perspectives.
• Mini Oral – Short oral presentations by authors presenting data of good quality, followed by expert discussion and perspectives.
• Poster – Display session for review, discussion and questions. The presenting authors must be available for Q&A to represent their work during Poster display session.

All accepted abstracts will be published online in the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2024 Abstract Book, a supplement to ESMO Open.

Publication schedule of accepted abstracts

Abstracts accepted for presentation during the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2024 will be released online according to a schedule which will be available on the ESMO website in due course.

ESMO Merit Travel Grants

A limited number of ESMO Merit Travel Grants to the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2024 are available, upon application, to first authors (= presenters) who submit abstracts considered to be deserving of recognition. Candidates must be ESMO Members under the age of 40. Selection will be made by the ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers 2024 Scientific Committee on a competitive basis from among the accepted abstracts.

Registration fees and deadlines

Individual registration will remain open for the duration of the congress. The ESMO Congress Secretariat must receive one completed registration per participant and the corresponding payment in EUR by the given deadlines.

ESMO membership must be active seven (7) days prior to the registration deadline for the reduced member registration fee to be applied. Please visit the membership page to check eligibility criteria, benefits, and to complete the membership application.

*Applicable to ESMO members from developing countries only. At the time of application, developing countries are defined by ESMO according to the World Bank classification of low, lower-middle and upper-middle countries based on the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita. Download the PDF outlining which countries are eligible for the discounted registration fees.
