The ESMO Asia Congress is the annual event where global and Asian cancer professionals come together, to present and discuss the latest scientific and clinical advances across the entire field of oncology, of relevance at a global level, and for the Asia-Pacific region.
The ESMO Asia Congress is recognised for its outstanding scientific programme, covering breakthroughs on the most prevalent cancer types in the region, and offering high quality multidisciplinary educational sessions, including the Pan Asian Adapted Guidelines Lectures, conceived to share best practice standards of care for cancer patients.

Abstract submission categories

Late-breaking abstracts

*A skeleton indicating the type of data that will be available by the late-breaking abstract deadline must be submitted online by the regular abstract deadline 12 July 2022.

The deadline for the submission of finalised late-breaking abstracts is 18:00 hrs SGT (local Singapore Time) / 12:00 CEST (Central European Summer Time) on 11 October 2022.

Trial in Progress abstracts

Trial in Progress abstracts (TiPs) in all phases of clinical research (phases I to III) may be submitted to ESMO Asia Congress 2022.

It is expected that abstracts submitted as Trial in Progress are ongoing trials that have not reached any protocol-specified endpoints for analysis and consequently will only require the completion of two (2) sections:

• Background
• Trial design

Notes:

• Recruitment must have already begun or have been completed by the abstract submission deadline of 12 July 2022.
• Abstracts including results or preliminary data will be rejected.
• Trial in Progress abstracts can be accepted for Poster presentation only.
• Encore TiP abstracts will not be accepted.

Young Oncologist (YO) Patient case studies

Challenging clinical case studies in the new era of personalised medicine may be submitted by young oncologists under 40 years of age.

Presentation of accepted abstracts

Abstracts will be reviewed by the ESMO Asia Congress 2022 Scientific Committee and considered on the merits of the scientific and clinical rationale of the trial.

The ESMO Asia 2022 Scientific Committee selected abstracts for presentation during the Congress based on the following possibilities:

• Proffered Paper – Oral presentations by authors presenting original data of superior quality, followed by expert discussion and perspectives. 
• Mini Oral – Short presentation by the authors with comment and interactive audience discussion led by an invited expert. 
• Poster – An important method for communicating details of scientific research, posters will be on display for the duration of the Congress.

All accepted abstracts are published in the ESMO Asia Congress 2022 Abstract Book, a supplement to Annals of Oncology, except YO Patient case study Posters.

Publication schedule for accepted abstracts

1. All regular abstracts accepted for presentation at ESMO Asia Congress 2022 as Proffered Paper (suffix O), Mini Oral (suffix MO), Poster (suffix P or TiP) will be published online via the ESMO website at 00:05 CEST on Monday, 28 November 2022.
2. All Late-breaking abstracts accepted for presentation at ESMO Asia Congress 2022 as Proffered Paper or Mini Oral (prefix LBA) will be published online via the ESMO website at 00:05 CEST on Thursday, 1 December 2022.
3. Details regarding ESMO PR activities will be made available two weeks prior to the Congress.

Embargo Policy

Data and information included in accepted abstracts is under embargo until the relevant embargo release date cited in the schedule above.

Data and information beyond what is included in the accepted abstracts, e.g., full data sets, may only be made public at the start of the official programme session during which the study is presented.

ESMO Merit travel grant

A limited number of ESMO Merit travel grants to ESMO Asia Congress 2022 are available, upon application, to first authors (= presenter) who submit abstracts considered to be deserving of recognition. Candidates must be ESMO Members under the age of 40. Selection will be made by the ESMO Asia Congress 2022 Scientific Committee on a competitive basis from among the accepted abstracts.

The application for an ESMO Merit travel grant must be completed during the abstract submission process. Applicants will be required to reply to the following questions:

• How relevant to your current practice are the topics presented at this Congress?
• Have you attended any event on a similar topic in the last 3 years?
• How will attendance at this Congress help with your professional development?
• How can your abstract contribute to the topics covered at this Congress?
• Have you recently been awarded an ESMO Award/Travel Grant? If yes, for which event?

And to provide the following documents:

• A copy of the submitted abstract (NOTE: The applicant must be the first and presenting author)
• A readable photocopy of either identity card or passport
• A short curriculum vitae (max. 2 pages)

ESMO will provide the recipients with a subsidised travel ticket, subsidised accommodation and Congress registration.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

ESMO Merit travel grant recipients must submit a report detailing the benefits of participating in ESMO Asia Congress 2022 by 17 December 2022.

Registration fees

Individual registration will remain open for the duration of the meeting. The ESMO Congress Secretariat must receive one completed registration per participant and the corresponding payment in SGD by the given deadlines.

* Applicable to ESMO members from developing countries only. At the time of application, developing countries are defined by ESMO according to the World Bank classification of low, lower-middle and upper-middle countries based on the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita. Download the PDF outlining which countries are eligible for the discounted registration fees.
** ESMO members must be under 40 and in training to qualify for this fee

Webcasts

The Congress webcasts will be available for all delegates and will include all the sessions of the official programme where speaker permission is granted. Once the virtual platform is closed, the on-demand content will be available on OncologyPRO. Non-Member delegates will have access for 6 months post Congress.

Webcasts will be open to ESMO Members who do not register for the Congress 3 months after the end of the meeting.

N.B. Daily registrations do not include Congress webcasts.

Confirmation

By mid-November 2022 delegates will receive the registration confirmation email and instructions on how to access the ESMO Asia Congress 2022.
