Abstracts
Submitting abstracts for congress offers researchers the chance to share their preliminary findings at the world’s largest respiratory meeting, helping to boost research as it progresses and enabling the exchange of the latest findings in respiratory medicine and science. All congress abstracts are also published online in a supplement of the European Respiratory Journal.
A maximum of three abstracts (including Late-breaking abstracts) may be submitted by the same author.

There will be three opportunities to submit abstracts for the upcoming ERS congress:

| Late-breaking abstracts |
An opportunity to submit abstracts that contain novel data from all suitable experimental methods and study designs, which only became
available after the first-round submission deadline in February 2022. A €75.00 submission fee applies per abstract. |

| Randomised controlled trial (RCT) abstracts |
The most ground-breaking RCT submissions will be presented as part of the ‘Abstracts Leading to Evolution in Respiratory Medicine Trials’ sessions, offering a perfect platform to showcase important and very late-breaking clinical trial data from all respiratory disease areas. A €150.00 submission fee applies per abstract. |

Review and programme allocation
All abstracts that are submitted for congress are peer-reviewed for quality and suitability for the congress programme.
If accepted, the International Congress Programme Committee will allocate successful abstracts to a variety of session types, including:
- Oral presentations
- ePoster sessions
- Clinical trial sessions
Clinical cases
ERS encourages the respiratory community to submit interesting clinical cases for Congress. This is a great opportunity to share your experiences, have cases presented in front of key opinion leaders in the field and actively contribute to the largest meeting in the respiratory calendar. Submitted cases may also be considered for presentation in other ERS events/activities taking place throughout the year.

How to submit clinical cases
All clinical cases are submitted online through myERS, allowing contributors to review, edit and submit cases from one easy to access platform.
You may submit up to three cases per disease area, including:
- Airway diseases
- Interstitial lung diseases
- Paediatric respiratory diseases
- Pulmonary vascular diseases
- Respiratory critical care
- Respiratory infections
- Sleep and breathing disorders
- Thoracic oncology
When preparing cases for submission, please structure submissions under the following sections:
- Case history
- Investigations
- Results and treatment
- Conclusions and points for discussion
If you already have a myERS account, you can sign in and start the submission process right away. Navigate to ‘Abstracts/Cases’, then ‘Congress’ and then ‘Access Clinical Cases Platform’ to get started.
Review and programme allocation
All submitted clinical cases are reviewed for quality and suitability.
If accepted for Congress, the International Congress Programme Committee and case-based session experts will allocate cases to the following session type:
Submitted cases may also be used as part of ERS’s wider educational activities outside of the Congress.
Notification of selection
Case submitters will be notified about the outcome of their submissions in June.

Proof of status
A copy of the ID/passport must be uploaded for any participants registered under the fee “Under 40”.
A proof of status must be uploaded for any participants registered under the fee “Allied Health Professional” or “Scientists (PhD, not MD)”. This proof must contain the following:
- The participant’s institution’s letterhead and/or logo
- The participant’s full name and date of birth
- Confirmation of the participant’s position within his/her institution
- The participant’s supervisor’s name, title and signature
- The participant’s institution’s stamp
