Revisiting Paediatric Anaesthesia: Merging the best of East and West

On behalf of the Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists and the Paediatric Anaesthesia Special Interest Group of Turkish Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, we are exhilarated and honored to host the 18th meeting of ASPA in Istanbul, from October 14-16, 2022. Turkey is privileged to host the ASPA meeting for the second time, and we extend a warm welcome to everyone here.

Welcome to Istanbul!  A vibrant and diverse city in the world, where we hope to gather in person on October 14th-16th 2022. Our theme this year is ‘Revisiting paediatric anaesthesia :merging the best of east and west.’ It is our hope that Istanbul, which has a unique place in the world, will merge the best of east and west and expand our knowledge and techniques in providing the best possible care to paediatric patients.

We have designed our meeting as hybrid, to be flexible to delegates who may not be able to travel due to national COVID regulations. We will do our best to make it interesting for those on the virtual platform as well as for those who attend physically. There are virtual workshops, lectures & PBLDs with experts from all around the world. We hope all delegates will benefit in one way or other.

In 2021, special interest groups (SIG) in ASPA, pioneered by our President Josephine Tan, were initiated. In ASPA 2022, we will discuss the works of the SIGs on pain, safety and quality, research and cardiac anaesthesia.

We have interesting workshops on Paediatric Difficult Airway, Difficult Intravenous Access, POCUS, PPLS and Regional Anaesthesia. Considering face-to-face attendance will be difficult for some of our delegates, virtual PBLD sessions with renowned paediatric anesthesiology experts are planned. Special technology and expertise will allow delegates to participate in the designated virtual rooms.

We are also honoured to host members from WFSA Paediatric Anaesthesia subgroup, to continue collaboration with our ASPA members.

We hope you enjoy and benefit from our scientific & social programme. We sincerely hope every delegate will find something satisfying in our city of wonders.

The city of Istanbul and Turkey in general has lots to offer so please through our website to find the options that suit you and your accompanying guests. We would be delighted to help our delegates in every aspect.

We hope by expanding collaboration, networking and challenging ourselves, it enables us to keep up with evidence-based information, learn from each other and continue safe practices.

Do enjoy our programme!

Yours Sincerely

CONGRESS CHAIRMAN
