The AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience is the premier education and networking event for the otolaryngology-head and neck surgery community. Held each fall, the AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience provides an opportunity for thousands of Academy members, non-member physicians, allied health professionals, administrators, and exhibiting companies to converge for an exhilarating four days. It draws more than 5,000 medical experts and professionals from around the world and features Instruction Courses, Miniseminars, Scientific Oral Presentations, Honorary Guest Lectures, and numerous Scientific Posters.

2021 Call for Science

• Members and non-members of the AAO-HNS are eligible to submit.
• Original basic science and clinical work related to the broad area of otolaryngology ailments and diseases may be submitted.
• Scientific abstracts should be the following:
  • unpublished
  • timely, contain innovative information and present findings on scientific research, surgical procedures, and practices.
  • submitted once and not as multiple abstracts or to multiple program types (i.e., Scientific Oral presentations and Scientific Poster). If your proposal is not accepted as an oral presentation, it will be reviewed and considered as a poster presentation unless told otherwise.
  • Therefore, if the abstracts in question are not different enough to be considered separate studies (specifically, if they address the same research question or present the same results), they may all be rejected.
• If a proposal is accepted, all speakers are required to do the following:
• Agree to present at the AAO-HNSF 2021 Annual Meeting. Submission of a proposal constitutes a commitment by the speakers(s) to present if selected. Failure to present will result in exclusion from the program for up to two years.
• Complete a “Financial and Intellectual Relationship Disclosure”. Failure or refusal to complete the form or disclose any potential conflicts of interest will result in cancellation of the session.
• Complete all tasks listed within the Speaker Management Portal. Failure to complete these required tasks may result in cancellation of the session.
• Provide permission to record your presentation.
• May only present in up to five sessions during the AAO-HNSF 2021 Annual Meeting.
• Register for the Annual Meeting and pay all applicable fees.
• Please note: The committee reserves the right to change any component of an accepted proposalSubmissions must be completed online by the deadline. Changes to proposals may not be made once the deadline passes.
• Submission Deadline: Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 11:59 pm ET – no exceptions.

Call for Simulator and Simulation Project Abstracts

Have an innovative simulator model or simulation activity with proven demonstrative results to share with the otolaryngology community?

Submit an abstract for consideration to present during the Simulation Reception and Showcase, held at the 2021 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience in Los Angeles, CA.

• This showcase is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your simulation-based curriculum and/or simulator, as well as offer presenters a hands-on experience to engage with peers, AAO-HNS/F leaders, and the general public.
• New this year! The top 10 abstract submitters will be asked to record and submit a one-minute video showcasing their simulators/simulation-based curriculum for display at the Simulation Reception and Showcase. These videos will also be evaluated and three finalists selected to participate in the popular SIM Tank
• At SIM Tank, the top three proposals selected will present and compete in front of a panel of expert judges and a live audience for monetary prizes.
• Both events will be held Monday, October 4, 2021.

Successful abstract submissions should include the following:

• An innovative and creative approach to the development, validation or study of a simulator, simulation, or simulation-based curriculum;
• Demonstrate the successful usage of the simulator model or simulation activity with proven demonstrative results and its replicability throughout the specialty; and
• Describe the simulator model or activity’s relevance to advance training and practice in the field of otolaryngology.
