Dear member of the WFHSS,
Since the outbreak of the COVD-19 (Coronavirus) has started the board of the HKSSMA (organizers of this year’s WFHSS congress in Macau, China) and the executive board of the WFHSS have been carefully monitoring the situation in the world. Also looking for the impact of this virus for all the people that are going to attend the congress (attendees and sponsors) in order to protect all our fellow co-workers working in the field of Hospital Sterilisation
Since we are now facing this pandemic and nobody can oversee how long this will take and what the impact of this will be for the near future, HKSSMA unfortunately had to decide to cancel this year’s congress.
The next annual congress of the WFHSS will be in 2021 and will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, November 17th-20th
Although the decision to cancel this year’s congress was very hard to take, it aligns with all the recommendations from experts all over the world regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our attendees, speakers and sponsors is our top priority.

It gives us a great pleasure on behalf of the Hong Kong Sterile Services Management Association (HKSSMA) to invite and welcome you to the 21st World Sterilization Congress to be held from 25 to 28 November 2020 in Macao and Hong Kong.
Following the footsteps of the previous successful congresses, HKSSMA will work closely with WFHSS to provide you with a valuable opportunity to learn new advances in the field of sterilization, an interactive platform for exchange of experiences and a warm atmosphere for establishing collaboration networks.
Macao and Hong Kong are conveniently located at the centre of Asia with easy access for participants worldwide. Both Macao and Hong Kong are important gateway to the Mainland China with a marketplace of booming economies. HKSSMA has a strong connection with the colleagues in Asia especially those in the Mainland China. The Congress was only held in Asia once in Osaka of Japan in November 2012 with an attendance of about 1,300 delegates. We believe, with your active participation, the 21st Congress will attract well over 2,000 participants from around the globe.
Macao and Hong Kong are interesting places with perfect blending of East and West. Hong Kong is a metropolitan and information hub customized with vibrant life style, beautiful scenery and mixed cultures. The ‘Historic Centre of Macao’ was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage in 2005. There are more than 20 museums for your cultural visits. Fantastic shows and mouth-watering cuisines are easily available around the corners. There are many other things for you to explore at leisure in both Hong Kong and Macao.
We will be celebrating our 23rd anniversary and counting on your support to the 21st World Sterilization Congress. Please join us to promote the development of sterilization in this region of the world.
