From the Congress Chair...

Welcome to TTS 2020!

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 28th International Congress of The Transplantation Society (TTS 2020) which will take place virtually.

TTS is the only global transplantation society that encompasses all of the disciplines in the field of transplantation, and this congress will be an ideal opportunity to share our knowledge and learn from each other so as to maintain standards and expand the field of transplantation together. Our virtual platform will allow you to learn, discuss and network in your own timezone around the world. TTS 2020 promises to be a great occasion to present the latest techniques, and exchange information and valuable academic research findings in the field of transplantation.

The Program Committee is dedicated to organizing a challenging and interesting program for the congress participants bringing a large number of world-renowned scientists together virtually to share their expertise, remarkable achievements and most recent findings.

With so many congresses having been cancelled or significantly reduced this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, TTS 2020 will provide an exceptional opportunity to learn the most up-to-date science and clinical practices.

The Congress will kick-off with the President’s Plenary and a special symposium on COVID-19 and its impact on transplantation followed by three days of a multi-disciplinary program featuring 250 presentations, including plenaries, state-of-the-art symposia, workshops and best oral abstracts sessions.

To enhance the networking component we will be running virtual networking rooms concurrently with the live sessions. You will have the ability to hop into thematic virtual networking rooms where you will be able to engage in discussions with your peers from around the world.

We are confident that the TTS 2020 Congress will be a rewarding and unforgettable experience for all participants attending from around the world. There will be numerous opportunities for companies to connect and network with the community while promoting their products.

As we wish to bring our Congress to the entire international transplantation community, and in everyone’s individual time zone, we developed a program and schedule that would allow all delegates to access the Congress programming during two time periods regardless of geographic region.

How did we do it? We listened!

We will be running three five-hour blocks of programming every day:

  • Block 1 - North & South America (evening) meets Asia & Oceania (morning)
  • Block 2 - Asia & Oceania (late afternoon) meets Europe, Middle-East & Africa (morning)
  • Block 3 - Europe, Middle-East & Africa (late afternoon) meets North & South America (morning)

This grouping will allow every participant, regardless of geographical location, to have access to five hours of sessions in the morning and an additional five hours in the afternoon. As a bonus, recordings will be posted immediately after each session.

Choice and diversity matters

There will be a minimum of three concurrent sessions running at all times as well as additional themed and Ad-Hoc Virtual Zoom networking rooms that attendees may join in throughout the day. We have invested a significant amount of time developing this program as to provide attendees with both world-class science and significant opportunities for face to face networking. As the program develops we will be expanding our offerings. Please visit our website often as the we will update it often.

Delivery

We will be offering a simple and comprehensive solution to participate by using our integrated WebAPP solution.

The account you create when you register is the same one you will use during the Congress. Delegates will only need to login to our platform to have access to the all activities and recordings.

Our WebAPP is really a one-stop shop which we have integrated/bridged with existing enterprise video services to allow for seamless experience:

  • Vimeo/Livestream for our plenary sessions.
  • Adobe Connect Professional (SOTAs, Workshops, Orals).
  • Zoom for Virtual Networking and Thematic Discussion rooms.

The additional requirement is that to participate in the Virtual Networking and Thematic Discussion rooms, you will need to install the Zoom plugin/application (no need if you have been using Zoom already).

The TTS Executive Committee and the Korean Society for Transplantation have continued to monitor COVID-19 and the global effect and continued travel restrictions. As always, our primary concern is for the health and wellbeing of our delegates, exhibitors, staff, and the wider community. We have therefore concluded that a physical meeting in Seoul in September 2020 would not be prudent.

Every two years the TTS Congress brings together thousands of professionals from around the world for an in-person international congress. We strongly believe that an international congress of the transplant community is particularly important in 2020 in view of the unfortunate cancellation of many other international congresses. We are therefore excited at the prospect of bringing you a virtual congress in September 2020 – one that will feature the most advanced scientific and clinical practices, as well as the most up-to-date developments on COVID-19. We will bring this in a forum that will enable delegates around the world to participate during their preferred time zones.

As we work through the details of the TTS 2020 Virtual Congress, we will keep you informed as the new format of the congress develops. We will be sharing the exciting new congress format over the next few weeks.

To our many members who are front line clinicians, we wish to express our gratitude for your tireless efforts in combatting this outbreak.
