Postponed from October 2020
to October 17-21, 2022
We regret to inform you that for the first time in 44 years, the International Congress on Palliative Care must be postponed.
We delayed making this decision in hopes of finding a way to bring our community together, but there is unfortunately only one choice, and that is to postpone our gathering.
Canada’s Public Health Agency is not yet allowing large conferences such as ours to take place. And at this stage, it is already too late for us to be able to present the Congress this October. The majority of our 300 speakers have not been allowed to confirm their participation. Also, our Public Health Agency has instructed that all travellers entering Canada are required to self-isolate for 14 days, whether they have COVID-19 symptoms or not.
For all of these reasons, the next Congress will therefore take place on October 17-21, 2022
There remain a lot of decisions to be made as we move forward with this new plan. In particular, much of the programme will need to be revisited. The landscape has changed; palliative care will not be what it was. We trust that our Programme and Senior Advisory committees, composed of palliative caregivers from around the world, will develop a programme that will nourish and inspire participants to shape the palliative care of the future.
Meanwhile, we are working on a plan to present an additional, much smaller event on a specific topic, in the beginning of June 2021. We hope to make that event available both in person and online.
These are extraordinary times requiring unprecedented responses.

Cancellation Policy
Participants unable to attend the Congress after having paid their registration fees must provide a written request to receive a refund (less 25% administration charges) no later than August 3, 2020.
Requests received after this date will not be considered.
All approved refunds will be issued after the Congress.
