Welcome Message

I am pleased to announce that the 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Hypertension will be held at Okinawa Convention Center for three days from October Friday 23 to Sunday 25, 2020.

It is our great honor to host this prestigious meeting, and I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Japanese Society of Hypertension for giving us such a privileged opportunity. The theme chosen for this meeting is "Inter-professional Network and Social Network for Management of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention ".

In view of the increasing longevity in developed countries, including Japan, there is an urgent need to develop an all-encompassing grand design and create a social system that is better tailored to the aging population. In the field of health care, measures must be taken to prevent people from developing diseases, frailty and other conditions that require nursing care and to extend healthy longevity, and such measures should be started from the early stage of life. Especially, adequate control of hypertension, which is a major risk factor for cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases, can make an important contribution to maintaining the social system for a long-lived society, due to its effectiveness in preventing such diseases and their complications and extending healthy longevity.

The Japanese Society of Hypertension therefore should take the initiative to build a network of a diverse range of professionals and academic communities and lead the effort to create a social network for a long-lived society, focusing on management of hypertension and prevention of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases. We must also share the strategy for management of hypertension in Japan widely with other Asian countries that face similar health problems to support them in their efforts to extend healthy longevity. With this in mind, we are currently working on organizing the annual scientific meeting in a manner open to society, focusing on building a network of diverse professionals and academic communities and promoting exchanges with Asian countries.
