Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology is honored to organize EUROTOX 2020 in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The congress will take place from September 6th to 9th, 2020.
The venue is The Tivoli Congress Center, located in the City Center, 12 min by Metro from Copenhagen airport, within walking distance to central city locations such as the Tivoli Park and the railway station. The Congress Center, designed by the architect Kim Utzon, opened its doors in 2010 and has a capacity of up to 5500 persons. lingyuint.The Centre includes congress hall, auditoriums and big meeting rooms all at ground floor. The adjacent Tivoli Hotel has 673 rooms, swimming pool and exercise facilities. Another 3000 hotel rooms are located within walking distance.
Denmark has a population of 5.5 million persons, being a part of Scandinavia, and is the eldest monarchy in the world.
Copenhagen is a historic city that was founded in the 10th century as a small Viking fishing community. The historic palaces, feature ancient atmospheres that are perfectly suited to contemporary mold architecture. The cultural and historic settings have inspired to the most innovative trends in fashion, design and architecture.
Copenhagen has a strong connection with its own waterfront, with a number of bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks and promenades. Copenhagen's landmarks such as Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, the royal castle Amalienborg and Christiansborg palace, Rosenborg Castle Gardens, Frederik's Church, and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions. It is easy to get around walking, cycling or with public transportation (metro, road- and waterbuses’).
Copenhagen is centrally located between the continental Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic area and has excellent possibilities for tourism, historical visits and shopping, and reached by worldwide-connected flight from all parts of the globe.
Copenhagen is an academic city located in an area with 10 universities. Denmark has one of the strongest clusters within life science in Europe and is among the world leaders in terms of biotech patents, has one of the largest drug development pipelines in Europe. DK also headquarter for several pharmacological companies and has a strong register-based research in human health.
Copenhagen also hosts the European Environmental Agency that surveys state of the environment and environmental health in the European Union.
The congress theme “Combined efforts in quest of safer chemicals and medicines” reflects the congress programme including a variety of topics dealing with safety of drugs and environmental chemicals, new and emerging technologies, personalized medicine, human health effects caused by exposure to chemicals as well as safety issues arising from climate changes.
The Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology has experience in organizing international scientific congresses, including the world XVI IUPHAR World Congress in Pharmacology in Copenhagen, 2010.
